Solving Server not Found and DNS errors : 5 Free Fast DNS Servers

If you have error or not, it's though exactly a diagnose. Using DNS server can speed up your online experience. Give them a try, it costs nothing. It can be all good and no bad.

DNS is Domain Name System, it's work in simple words is to translate URLs into IP addresses so that you can get the right thing. If it gets overloaded, you may be unable to view all or some websites. Like, if websites like http://74.125.53.99/ loads but http://www.google.com doesn't, you may have a DNS problem.
Also, if you have a DNS problem, the browser will often display error as Server not found.

To correct the trouble, you can use DNS servers. These will be servers that shall respond and process the DNS demands of your computer or network.

Some Gyaan Before we take off:
There are two types of the IP address your computer could be assigned.
  • Static IP
Your IP address would be same every time you connect to the internet

  • Dynamic IP
Your computer would be assigned different IP address every time you connect to the internet. In this case, it's good for you. You don't need to see Control panel for now.
There is a simple observation you can make just now, go and check whatismyip.org. The website shows your IP address(that's all it shows on the page, so i don't need to elaborate). Note it somewhere on notepad, paper or desk or in the form of doodle or on walls or have a Tattoo whatever. Now next time, you start the computer and connect to the internet, go again to whatismyip.org, again you'll find the IP address. Check the latest one from the one you noted before. If there's no difference then you have Static IP otherwise you have a Dynamic IP.

Here's the procedure.
  1. The thing is you have to get to your internet connection's properties to instruct it to use a DNS server.
  2. On Windows XP and older versions, it's in Control Panel - Network Connections
  3. Or it can be in the Start Menu - Connect to
  4. Right click your connection and get to it's Properties. (On Windows 7 or Vista,  get straight to the properties of the connection)
  5. Networking Tab - in the list of services, Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
  6. Get to it's Properties. You should see this.
You see those boxes for IP addresses, here is your turn to pick up the most handsome numbers from the menu below.

Here's List of DNS Server's that you do the Job, just for free.

Google Public DNS
Google is everywhere. It claims to be the fastest, and i'm sure you would believe it unless you really want to investigate. If time's not a luxury for you, try Namebench. You will find other info there. So back on Google.
  • 8.8.8.8
  • 8.8.4.4

Download a copy of Windows 7 RC now!

The Windows 7 Release Candidate (RC) is publicly available right now, so it's time to get your hands on a copy - which will work for you uninterrupted until next Spring. Don't get too excited though, as at nearly 2414MB, it's not a quick download.
So how do you get it? Well, like the beta, you'll need to register for a product key. But unlike the beta, the RC will work for most of a year from now, so you won't have to update straight away when Windows 7 is actually released sometime before January – most likely Autumn.
While Microsoft has confirmed the RC will not expire until 1 June 2010, it has cleverly ensured you'll need to sort out your installation before March. "Starting on March 1, 2010, your PC will begin shutting down every two hours," says Microsoft. "Windows will notify you two weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid interruption, you'll need to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010."
"[The RC is] a big deal for us," Microsoft's Windows OEM Product Manager Laurence Painell told TechRadar last week. "Obviously, we are releasing what we feel could be the final version - what we will put out to manufacturers and even wider availability when we release the product to consumers."
"Our official line is that [the production version] will be available no later than January 2010 and we will stick to that, but people will still be able to use the release candidate for nothing until June 2010."

What you need to think about
Beware that, like the beta, the RC is based on the Ultimate version of Windows 7, so if you invest in a netbook running the Starter Edition or another PC running Home Premium (or buy the boxed version), your version will have some features missing.

And remember also the sage advice – don't install the RC on a critical PC where you store all your main files and especially not if you haven't backed them up.
As with the beta version, you'll also need to burn an ISO file to make an installation DVD. Available in English, German, Japanese, Spanish and French as well as 64-bit and 32-bit versions, the OS requires a PC with these system requirements:
  • 1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 GB RAM (32-bit) / 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
If you have any technical questions about Windows 7, such as what partition size you'll need for dual-booting Windows 7 and Windows Vista, you may get the answer on TechNet's Windows 7 forums.
Microsoft hopes that the RC release will be as successful as the beta test. "There has been a great deal of feedback and a huge amount of it positive through the beta program," added Painell. "Obviously the beta program was the widest that we've ever run and the overwhelming response has been positive.
"We're obviously very excited internally about the quality of the product and that's been one of the overwhelming things internally."

ohDontForget.Com

OhDon'tForget.com

It does only one thing, but it does it oh, so well. On the home
page, just type in a cell phone number and a brief message ("Pick up
dry cleaning") and this site sends it out as a text message to that
phone on the date and at the time you specify. The site detects your
time zone so you don't have to include that, nor do you have to even
register or look at any ads. (Recipients will be charged a regular
text-messaging fee.) You'll need to be brief, as there's a
160-character limit on messages, although soon users will be able to
ramble on longer, and Oh, Don't Forget... will transmit the message in
parts so that it all gets through, the site's creator Jason Stirman
says. The service works with all U.S. carriers, a few select Canadian
ones and a few in Europe and Japan, but you don't have to know your
recipient's carrier to send a message. (If you changed carriers but
saved your old number, you must take one extra simple step: see Add
Your Number.)

Another way to nag your spouse: Teleflip's flipOut service, which lets
you email a text message of up to 120 characters to anybody's phone by
sending it to yourfriendsnumber@teleflip.com. Your email appears as a
text message, and the reply turns up as an email message in your inbox.
TeleFlip has another service called FlipMail, which lets you read your
email on any cell phone, be it "smart" or otherwise. Here too you must
pay your carrier for text-messaging services, and while it's ad free,
longer missives are sliced and diced to meet the 120
character-per-message max. You also have to "white list" your friends,
because flipMail only allows messages from pre-approved email addresses
to get through.

Splashup :Online Image Editing/Manipulation

One topic that never ceases to amaze me is the manipulation and editing of images. It’s a fascinating world at which I stare at in awe. But when I open Photoshop to give it what feels like the quadrillionth try, I turn away in disappointment within minutes because I simply don’t have the patience and determination it takes to master a professional image editing program. CorelDraw may be an exception, I’ve actually grown quite used to it.

So when I ran across Splashup, an online image editing tool, I was fascinated by a very well designed website. I hope they made it all using their own application. Well, probably not. Anyways, when I opened Splashup I was a little turned off. It looks a lot like Photoshop and it also works a lot like Photoshop. Needless to say, it comes with only a small fraction of Photoshop’s features, and turns out to be quite valuable even for the novice user.

You can “jump right in” without signing up, but of course membership has its advantages. You can save your images locally and continue working on them later on.

You can start with a blank image or open images from your browser, your Splashup, Facebook, Flickr or Picasa accounts or using a mundane URL to an image of your choice.

To open images from Facebook, Flickr or Picasa, you first need to authenticate and allow Splashup to connect to your account on the respective site. For Flickr, a successful authentication will look like this:

Once you’re happy with your image you can also save it back to any of the above mentioned accounts, with the exception of “http” that is, and of course you can download it to your computer. But we’re not that far yet…

The canvas opens in a separate window, so it’s almost like running a separate program, only this one runs within your browser. You can even go full screen and give your full attention to the program.

As you may be able to guess from the screenshot above, Splashup works with layers, the Photoshop-typic feature that probably makes the program both most useful and most annoying. I’m not a great fan of layers the way Photoshop deals with them, but I know many people find them quite helpful, if not indispensable.

I’m assuming that most of you will recognize the standard tools, what they can do and how to apply them, so I will not go into great detail here.

What I found a bit confusing though is that boxes, circles, and polygons added to a layer will melt with it and can not be selected or moved afterwards. You can however fill them with a different color, which seems a bit awkward to me. It’s been a while since I used Photoshop CS, but that’s a drawback I don’t recall. In other words, if you don’t want to mess up a layer, create a new layer for every new thing you add.

Splashup comes with a nice selection of layer effects and filters. In the example below I created several layers of the same gradient and added (from bottom to top) gradient glow, bevel, drop shadow, and gradient bevel layer effects. I will leave the discovery of filters to your own adventurous nature.

The Layers window is one of the most powerful tools. This is not just where you control the positioning and visibility of your layers. You can also add some more effects, like changing the opacity (as seen in the example below), multiply, screen, lighten, darken, difference, add, subtract, invert, alpha, erase, overlay, and hardlight your layers in relation to each other.

There is a lot more you can do, for example capture images from any camera source connected to your computer. Whatever you do, always keep in mind that the undo option doesn’t go back very far, so better save or download your work at different stages, just to be sure you won’t lose anything.

Finally a bit of trivia. Splashup used to be called Fauxto, and interestingly enough this is undoubtedly revealed when you open the File menu. At the very bottom it still says Exit Fauxto. :)

In the opinion of the experienced Photoshop user, how does Splashup compare to Photoshop in the light of minor editing tasks? I would love to read your comments!
